Going Beyond the "Gym Bros" and "Influencers"

Why Your Trainer’s Education is Your Greatest Asset
We’ve all seen him. He’s the guy at the gym who’s in great shape, full of energy, and always ready with a "killer workout." If you’re paying him, you probably like him—and that’s important! But... as you progress, you have to ask: Is "liking him" enough to protect your long-term health?
The Hidden Bar for Entry
In the fitness world, the barrier to entry is dangerously low.
Anyone can call themselves a "coach" after a weekend of watching YouTube. These "coaches" often teach what worked for them, but they lack the knowledge and clinical foundation to understand if it will work for you—or even if it might actually cause an injury.
The NCCA Gold Standard: Why Education and Accreditation Matter

When looking for a professional, the first thing to check is their accreditation.
As an ACE (American Council on Exercise) professional, I hold a certification accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). This isn't just a certificate; it’s a commitment to a nationally recognized standard of safety, ethics, and proper biomechanical instruction.

But a general certification is just the baseline. A true professional deep-dives into the nuances of different populations. Because I have specialized training in Youth Fitness and Senior Fitness, my approach changes entirely depending on who is in front of me:
For a student-athlete: We aren't just "lifting heavy"; we are focusing on developmental proper mechanics and establishing a foundation that will last a lifetime.
For a senior client: We aren't just "staying active"; we are utilizing evidence-based protocols for balance, stability, bone-strengthening, and cardiovascular enhancement.
Precision vs. Guesswork: The Exercise Physiologist
You might wonder, "I just want a workout. Why do I need a specialist?"
Here is the difference: A typical coach gives you their routine; an Exercise Physiologist gives you a personalized exercise prescription.
I am currently a candidate for the ACSM-EP (Exercise Physiologist) credential, which is widely considered the "gold standard" in exercise science and fitness. Combined with my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics, I look at your workout through a different lens than the "coach" or "influencer".
I’m not just counting your reps; I’m monitoring your physiological response.
I’m not giving you a pre-designed meal plan; I’m analyzing how your nutrition fuels your cellular recovery.
"I Like My Current Trainer... Why Switch?"
If you have a trainer you like, that’s a win! But Rapport should never be a substitute for Results and Safety.
If your trainer can't explain the S.A.I.D. principle or the Minimum Effective Dose principle (evidence-based practices that tell how your body specifically adapts to stress), or if they don't implement the bare minimum of utilizing Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), then they are essentially guessing with your body.
At Health by Brick, you aren't sacrificing the "fun" of a workout for the "science" of physiology—you are getting a workout that is physiologically optimized to get
you results without the burnout, injuries, or empty promises you've been sold so far. Your money is valuable, shouldn't the service you receive also be?
